An Oldie... but New to You!

This was a commission from a friend and mutual lover of Pisgah Woods II. Lisa O'Connor wanted to give a unique gift to her husband for his birthday....I was unable to post this for several months and now that the surprise is over I can share with everyone! This turned out fantastic and I am very pleased. It is a watercolor on canvas of their new mountain cabin...it's it beautiful...and yes I mean the cabin (painting's pretty good too). I hope they enjoy:)

Thank O'Connors! You guys are great. And Chris, belated Happy Birthday!

Adelaide's Vintage Home & Garden!!! Check it out! Just installed her new sign today! A custom created to represent her store. I reused an old door for Architectural Salvage, painted and distressed it; had metal letters cut by Jeff Barber with SunGun Studios; used old knobs and metal to create the flowers. It turned out great and I can't wait to see the response from her new sign!

It's a great store with great prices! You will LOVE it too!

Justin Bieber Room!

Okay, so my newest kids room I am calling the "IDOL ROOM" and in this case the teen idol is Justin Bieber. Painted the walls a teal blue/green and added a custom painting of the Popstar, a handmade peace sign, new bedspread, rug, chair, storage ottoman, teen accessories and study station/desk with organization accessories. This teen is ready to start middle school with a room she can show off to her friends...so who's next?????
I can customize YOUR TEENS room to an Idol or Popstar they may prefer and help get them ready for a new year in school! Contact me and I will transform the space into more than they ever dreamed and work with your budget!

I can also paint customized Popstar Artwork....who does your kid love?

SAVANNAH, the dog

My newest Pet Portrait of Savannah, a cute Border Collie....this portrait was commissioned from a Relay for Life Fundraising event at 1618....I donated a pet portrait to the highest bidder, and apparently there was a bidding war to win this artwork. It turned out great!!! Pet Portraits are always so enjoyable for me because I LOVE DOGS!!
This is a great gift idea for anyone who owns a pet!!! Usually the way it works is that I come meet your pet & take pictures OR you can send me some of your favorite pictures of the pet I can work from them instead. Whatever works best!! So....give someone a gift that is meaningful, and order a Pet Portrait by Sage!

Got DENIM?

BLUE JEANS, I tell you. Yes, I made this teens bathroom look like it is covered in denim...Turned out really cool, it even has stitches to sow up all the seams. I also created some artwork for the space using the KIDS in which took an old classic of the silohette portraits and hipped it up by using some funky paper and white frames to contrast from the dark blue jeans. This bathroom is ready for some teenagers!
And Thanks to Lori Carter, one of my best and returning clients! Another person who loves changing it up...lovin' paint!!!!!

Custom LETTERS....for your kid's room

So, I have always painting children's rooms, but in this room I created a new custom lettering system that turned out really cool! The theme of the room is SPORTS and I wanted to create something totally new, nobody had really seen before. So I can up with a way to display the child's name using the look of an "old baseball score sign" I wanted the letters to look like old metal signs that could slide through a system on the wall....so here's what I cam up with....It turned out so good, I think I could mass produce this!!! What do you think?

Southern Lights to Reopen!

An Old Favorite...to reopen! Soon enough we will all have a new restaurant to enjoy, especially for all you Kirkwooders and Irving Parkers. Yes, Southern Lights will be reopening at the Shops at Kirkwood sometime this month, so be on the look out! You can't possibly miss the new sign...or should I say the Awning Sign! John Drees, hired me to paint & letter the awning, and while seeming an easy task it turned into a bit of a challenge. I always say that I will just about paint anything, so why not try a HUGE awning. But, who would have guessed that a green awning would SOAK up 4 gallons of black paint, yes I did say 4 gallons. The lettering which would seem like the hard part, quickly became the easiest part of the whole project. Rolling paint on an awning, well.....I can say I learned much. So if anyone needs some tips, you know who to come to!

It turned out great, however, and I can't wait to EAT. And Thanks John!

Doesn't Yes! Weekly want to buy this one???

Papel Series

"G" starts a new series of paper inspired artwork...yet again reusing. This painting is using mixed media of palette painting and The Rhino Times collage
to create Downtown Greensboro....of course I could help to strategically place elements of the paper in certain locations - you'll have to see it to see it...

"G" will be hanging at envy salon & boutique if interested in viewing and or buying. Lots more to come....

NATURALS commission

Here is a collection of work from my Naturals Series that I painted specifically for a great client!! She had a color she wanted to use, so I incorporated it into the pallette. I made the hanging canvas by sewing it together with twine and using a curtain rod to hang that the client picked out herself. The other two smaller canvas's are 10x10 squares that hang together as on piece to compliment the larger canvas. Check it out...and if you like, I would be glad to make something for YOU as well!

C4C...Care for Creation

C4C...Care for Creation...a group that Bryan and I joined at West Market St United Methodist Church to help bring recycling, reusing and overall awareness of how we should care for our world.

This is a mural I created (with the help from the members of the group) to illustrate what C4C has accomplished in the last year. We have Recycling Cans distributed around the church, Reusing Coffee Mugs during the week of events, instead of styrofoam, and are selling Heirloom Better Boy Tomato Plants from local Faucette Farms as a fundraiser!!! If anyone is interested, we are selling each plant for $2.00 and they will be available for pick up at the end of April- beginning of May!!!

The mural was created entirely from torn paper out of old magazines and paper.....a recycled concept was only fit for Caring for Creation!!!

"naturals" from Sage

Here is a new series I have started called..... "naturals" I decided to combine my art and my love of organic material and recycling. These are hanging, natural primed canvases, hand-sewed with twine and painted in a mixed media with a minimum pallete. All will be themed around nature... plants, fruits, etc. And there will be lots more to come!

"Orange" and "Organic"

They are both for sale for $125 and are located at envy salon, Revolution Mills Studios in Greensboro.

Sorry the picture quality is low...dang iphone!!!

oh, josephine's...

Oh, Josephine's....oh, Josephine's......
My latest project, a new restaurant, Joesphine's Bistro and Bar, for my friends Sarah Keith and Chris Blackburn. This new bistro and bar will be open Spring 2010 (May) and will be a great addition to the Lindley Park neighborhood restaurant scene. It is located at 2416 Spring Garden St (near Fat Dog's). Sarah and Chris also own and manage the Lindley Park Filling Station on the corner of Elam and Walker (I did that sign too).
And what I love about Sarah and Chris is that they always hire the "Artist" , the little guys, .... me, to do projects for them. And I sincerely THANK THEM for that!
The SIGN.... a fairly basic design...they came to me with an idea and I translated. The hardest part about the sign was the installation and final painting. I rented a Scissor Lift (my first time for this) and was 25 ft in the air, cold and windy, trying to paint. Challenging. But all went well and the sign is complete with a few adjustments...the bottom sign will be taken down for the new patio dining area. It should be really cool...I can't wait to eat under my sign:)

Amazing Grace

The Salvation Army Select Store!!! This is a mural I painted (with a palette knife) to tell the story/history of the Salvation Army from past to present. I was commissioned by students from UNC-G Interior/Architecture Program to create something fun, abstract, but yet historical and meaningful to help this store be more hip and current.
If you haven't already checked it out (yeah the mural too) YOU TOTALLY NEED TO GO! The clothes are amazing and for an great price! They hand pick the "best of the best" from all the donation centers for this store...Lake Jeanette Station, 3610 North Elm St, Greensboro NC (north of Pisagh Church Rd)
